I agree with what he said, in the last week i looked more into the issue, fan-art/copyright/fair-use is in the power of the original creator / owner of the IP, he/she decides who & when can somebody use the brand/product, overall is a mess of loopholes, now as a personal rant: pic related started to sperg like a dumb whore lately because people started sharing mega links with her fan-art / tutorials and sell them at conventions / other places, sakichump if you read this, slice your wrists you hypocrite.

Good results are not the point when you're drilling fundamentals at all my man. I finally finished my first ream of printer paper a few days ago. It was mostly gestures and line practice but it was a long, long time coming. Shit was so cash, and every last bit of it all went where it belongs, right in the trash! At this stage of the game I'm not at the level where anything I could conceivably do is worth holding on to for long and that's a big part of improving. Separating your work from your ego, not getting too attached to any one image and just pumping shit out and building your visual library. I have my Intuos Pro Large for when I think I'm ready to go all the way with a piece but for now I'm 100% focused on fundamentals and I think that's the right way to do it for the time being.

If you want some real money, you need to do art for people that like shiny and smooth art.

You can aim for a 3d render look, but don't forget that you can't go way too realistic, they like it more cartoony and cute.

Are there shortcuts you can use to save a hell of a lot of time on CS6 to get your pictures to come out like this guys?

I really wanna doubt Sakimichan is a good artist, and just uses photoshop to fix his shit, but I'm really starting to doubt it.
