study some necks and ears before your start painting it.Should help you.
you gave the neck a slight curvature which is wrong,even if it's stylized. you can make the neck thicker or thinner( thinner =cute) but it should always look straight.

I want it to be eerie and mystical rather than frightening and violent. Well people who are /were sentenced to death usually look calm and in acceptance of their fate,mostly because there's nothing they can do.
