Stick figures, you got it. I added some red boxes to show roughly how things are rotated due to the perspective. It's really rough and basic but the main point I'm trying to show is how I set up my sketches (I'm not claiming this is "the proper formula", just one way to make it work). Some people could do this by intuition but for beginners, and as the views get more extreme, this is really helpful.
Figure Drawing for all it's worth is obviously good for figure drawing (definitely read it) but it only covers perspective in a basic way. 'Perspective made easy' and Scott Robertson are both very good, personally I found 'Framed perspective' to be the easiest to follow and clearest. Pick whichever you want.
