Portable "tablet" with a screen?

I work a job currently where I sit at a desk and take calls. Out of an 8 hour shift, I'm only on a call for about 4 hours.

That leaves me 4 hours to draw. Currently I draw in a sketchbook but I would really like something I could do digital work on as I want to practice animating more.

So I need to find a tablet or something that can run software that will allow me to have layers and opacity for the layers (to draw one frame on top of another, etc.) and some means to compile the frames into animation.

What comes to mind for this? Something like a Surface Pro? Is there anything else?
