I agree. Weird, inhuman things are a lot more fun to draw, but that's because you can mess up things like proportions and anatomy and still end up with a good drawing. It's fun because you don't have to try very hard, but that's also how you get trapped into only doing certain styles of artwork, which can get boring after a while.

I don't mean you should do outright cute drawings, but blending elements of cuteness and creepiness can help you branch out and try new things. That aesthetic is known as "kimokawaii" in Japan, "kimo" coming from "kimoi" (gross, disturbing) and "kawaii" (cute, lovely). Just Google that term for examples.

Also stuff like monster girls might qualify if they're particularly monstrous, I'll post an example after this.
