Brehs, I've been stuck in the hell of muddy colors for months.

I'm not sure what the problem is.

1) Am I picking the wrong hue and value for my shadows and highlights? Right now I go deeper saturation and darker for shadows and the reverse for highlights. Sometimes I change the hue slightly, like more red for shadow of a yellow object.

2) I've tried to mix soft and hard edges. Should I just paint hard edges until I learn to get everything else right?

3) Do I simply lack understanding of rendering? I studied Scott Robertson's 'How To Render' but feel like the problem is more towards execution than theory.

Do you guys have any advice for a color retard?
