Manga often relies on these realistic bgs because style-wise they are "neutral", they aren't dependant on the style of the mangaka,
hence they can be drawn by his assistants. Making the workflow more efficient.

While mangakas that have a very specific style even for bgs, like Taiyo Matsumoto for example, can't use assistants.
