If you're going to make a counter argument, at least give examples.
Well, maybe I should provide examples for my claim.

Look at pic related. It's a scene from anmalfred Hitchcock move called Marnie. On the left is a maid cleaning the office, and on the right is Marnie stealing money from the safe.

The camera holds this position for a long time while Marnie is breaking into the safe. The audience is waiting to see if the maid is going run into Marnie on the act.

In comics, all I can think of to achieve this is to redraw the same horizontal shot over and over, on a page, or a couple of pages. The reader though, if agitated, can skip it, vs in film, where the viewer is forced to endure the tension.

I'm sure comics have ways of building tension, but they gave to use a completely different approach because the reader can skip a still shot.
