I agree with other posters that the face is a bit uncanny, but I don't think you should throw the whole thing out. Might want to take a lot of the critique with a grain of salt, since anything other than generic animu is going to get called ugly on these threads. To make the face work, I think you may just want to simplify the face a little more and go easier on the shadows. Sorry for the shitty paintover, but I hope it can convey what I'm getting at
