what this anon said, if not Keys to drawing, then just looking very very carefully. The prerequisite to 3d construction from imagination is 2d shape drawing from observation. You can't learn form if you can't see shape

Do this. It works for anime style, or whatever style you want. Even for realistic fine-art painting, it works.

they teach the same things. The whole point of the book is to teach you to duplicate what you see accurately. The training for that hasn't changed in hundreds of years.

When you can copy well, start getting into construction, which allows you to draw from imagination.
