>my one passion ripped from me by nerve compression in my hands
>have tried again and again over the last year to paint/draw and my hand always cramps up/is in pain after like 2 hours MAX

not even holding the pen hard or anything like that, I can type for hours but as soon as I bring my fingers together to hold a pencil, it's all fucked ;_;

I hold my stylus like a pencil, if that's what you mean. I'll keep looking into brushes but I know that if I can paint with a hard square brush using a mouse, then I should be able to do the same with a tablet. Speaking of which, I see what you mean by the last sentence, but I'm actually just bad at drawing with a tablet, period. It feels like I'm drawing with my left hand or something, and it's felt that way even back when I would use my old tablet. Is there some tablet tutorial out there or something? Am I just autistic?

I know it sounds stupid but I'm actually kinda recuperating from drawing. Legitimately trying to control my breathing and clearing my head because I was just so shook by how awful it felt using the tablet. I'll go back to pencil for a bit I guess.

First of all, stop whining.

Second, holding a pencil is easy: see attached.

Third, art is about practice. Start with the simplest shapes - lines and squares, and get more complex as you get more comfortable drawing and controlling the pencil. Read the threads where the art beginner books are posted, and download a couple, and try the beginner exercises. If at all possible, take a beginning art course at a community college or adult education program, or if you can afford it, 4 year school.

> do you mind if I ask how you're holding the pencil?
This way. Take a look at this for more about grip: http://www.proko.com/how-to-hold-and-control-your-pencil/

Just feel confortable, draw using all the arm and don't put too much strenght holding (the first pic in porko's looks like he is killing the pencil) or against the paper.

I was trying Drawing with the Right Side of Brain last week, I think I'll come back to it or try Keys to Draw later.

Keep going, I'm just trying for a week (~30h)
Good luck
