so this thread isn't about op crying over art being too hard for him but about art being too hard that none of his friends do it with him anymore.

get better friends. don't expect everyone to push autistically to the same level as you. other people have lives and very different goals from that of an autist.

i think you're confused. the kind of copyists in question are the ones that spend great efforts trying to xerox an image. when japs copy each other's work it's because of influence and technique. they aren't mentally blind when copying the work.

it's very simple. if the only thing going on in your head as you copy an image is measurements and angles, you're a 'soulless xeroxer'. only autists that have an inability to grasp art and philosophy are the ones that even question this kind of thing.

VG was well read, well educated. worked insanely hard with religious dedication. you on the other hand are just copying a historical figure from a time long since passed. it's insulting as it is pathetic. and you don't even have one fraction of VG's abilities. you actually come off in your work as a very hostile retard.

the internet in general has become pretty trash since every twat in the world has access to a phone. additionally, there are barely any artists on /ic/. and for some reason the beginner idiots here seem to think they need to treat art as bad science. incidentally you will find more knowledgeable people about art on /sci/ of all places. although that is also a special kind of shithole.

most of his work is just extreme hatching. the doesn't have good contrast or focus points and it never really resembled manga/anime to begin with. the negative spaces are jarring as hell. some pages i have to stare at for a few seconds before my brain can even recognize the forms or where to look.

they have no lives or people around to sketch so they are stuck having to invent, but not from within because that's too has rotten. and eventually dawns this simple conclusion:
>even if i master drawing i lack the knowledge to express anything because i have nothing.
followed desperately by:
>maybe art isn't about expression or ideas. it's only about how good you are. yeah, all that matters is technical skill.

and then another illustrator is born. no ideas, only copied techniques and cloned impersonal subject matter. art, subjectivity, taste. those are irrelevant--if not outright Wrong and the people who believe otherwise need to be educated on the single true set of fundamentals because they are just beginners.

reminder that you need to understand japanese aesthetics to draw anime or else you get an endless continuum of gross crossbredd abortions

so what about all the artwork that happened before modern perspective? what about outsider art? clearly these are taken seriously. you just don't want to acknowledge their existence because they contradict your strong preconception of what art *is*. you're modern cancer.

>You dont need a lecture to understand the value of traditional art
yer full of shit. kids dont give a fuck about some old naked people wrapped in bedroom curtains. they only recognize value because the artwork is framed, large, and hung in a huge ass museum. and most of the beauty in traditional work isn't at face value either. a lot of it has to be extracted through CAREFUL INSIGHTFUL OBSERVATION. who the fuck does that today unless they are in a subfield of art?

>I have no problem with abstract art existing, but it is given a place far more prestigious than it deserves.
no one cares about your value system. get some money and start playing the bidding game at sothebys if you want to participate in the lunacy of trying to influence what other people value.
