Creativity is far more important than technical skill and grinding fundies isn't going to make your ability to combine things in interesting ways any better. If you can't even think of anything to do with your skill in anatomy and perspective and you just sit there drawing the same generic shit over and over then of course no one will care. I'd much rather see artists struggle to be good draftsman but still have something interesting to add to the greater artistic conversation than to see a really really really good fantasy castle or dragon again.
