Inaccurate. I've picked a picture that has an even stronger light source that's artificial, and even then you can see the hue shifts. Depending on the albedo (see: reflectivity) of the surface, you will see more or less hue shifting. The more reflective, the more pure the the light bouncing off the surface stays to it's original light color. If you look at the the doll's face, the plastic surface has a very high albedo, unlike human skin. The plastic brown beard and the skin reflect a similar white light. However if you look at the jacket and cuffs near the hands, you can clearly tell the fabric has less reflectivity, and therefore the light shifts hue. It's very slight, but perceptable.

I should have clarified: with the surfaces you are attempting to render, the reflectivity is too low to not use local color in the rimlight. It looks very unnatural otherwise.
