That's only one piece of gesture; the line of action.
I don't think I'm drawing lines from a sketch, the whole thing is me trying to find the "gesture" (drawing what X is doing versus what it is. That being said the student examples in the book lean a lot toward the latter, just very scribbly.)
I didn't draw over the image since I was gesturing it, which is supposed to exaggerate the pose(?)
