I just realized today that when I draw heads in certain angles I set the features of the lower half of the face too far back, which makes everything look off. I've been drawing for close to a decade and only just spotted it. Tens of thousands of heads, including skull studies, and I only see this shit now. Looks like I'm retarded after all. Even if I do make it, it will probably take 50x as long as the average person. I wish I was dead.

Why does everyone want to get into art and not the other way around? I've met musicians, coders, neurosurgeons, and psychologists who've given up on their careers for art.

Call me naive, but I feel like people who genuinely think this way are just giving themselves an excuse to fail.

It's the same thing with the "brain plasticity" argument. Yeah, it's true that it becomes more difficult to learn and master something new as you get older, but so what? Everything worth mastering requires a tremendous amount of discipline in order to accomplish. Dwelling on ideas like "my ten years are almost up" or "only young people can get into this" is just demoralization nonsense, essentially making you mentally categorize yourself as an underprivileged class who missed out on some hot trick to become talented, and THAT'S why your art sucks -- not because you haven't yet invested the time, the patience, the effort to actually accomplish what you want. Fuck that. Own your own failures so you can live up to your future achievements.
If you genuinely believe that you aren't capable of making it, then either try harder or quit. There's no sense wallowing in the bitter middle road.
