Let me just say, if you are genuinely struggling with this, it's likely that you will experience this same difficulty in any other thing you pursue. Perhaps your real issue is that you want results without any effort. Maybe your experience in school reflects this as well.

If this is not the case for you, and other pursuits are more appealing despite the difficulties of learning, then it might be that art isn't a fit for you/you don't really want it.

Even if you love and enjoy making art, as with any discipline, as you improve and grow through milestones you will experience growing pains, dry spells, and difficulty. Studying foreign language is the same - at first when you're learning the basics, you're flirting with the idea, the dream of 'how cool it would be to learn this language'. But once you hit conjugating verbs, tense, case, the fine details that you MUST memorize and master to improve, you feel the pain that is growth.

It is at this point that many students drop out. Having gone through through Chinese, Japanese, and Greek classes for uni/graduate school, there are MANY more students in the first semester than the second semester. Once your ideal is confronted with the friction of reality and the effort REQUIRED to actually improve, many, many people fall off.

In any discipline, you will be better than 90% of people if you simply do not quit in seasons of discomfort and pain.
