and this ones serious because it was one of muh first attempts at freehanding more animated poses on a big ass canvas. I like how much jlaw kind of overpowers stone and keeps her scrunched up in the side there.

>do you really think thats a grid?
the OP? yeah probably. could even be a graphite transfer to get the bottle details right. It's pretty much an exact proportional recreation of the image. Even the thin-looking fingers in the op make sense when you look at the source image. You can kind of see where they probably drew the line and then in the process of painting it got a bit trimmed in.

I guess the eyes in the OP are a little wonky though. One is lower than it should be. So I guess that's a point for hand drawn.

What exactly makes you think it isn't a grid or canvas transfer?
>Not everyone is awful at drawing from sight like you are.
I'm not terrible. The OP looks a LOT like it was at least a grid though. Most of his do. And I'm pretty sure he's working on stretched canvas, so the idea that he was just freehanding on a blank canvas the exact proportional details and stuff without at least a grid for no real reason seems absurd.

not really narcissism. She's almost certainly doing that for other persons or people. Which would make this more of a histrionic meme than a narcissism meme.

u right. I still think practicing them and trying to do blowups and stuff is kind of part of going from being beginner to intermediate skill base. Turning a drawing into a "piece" or whatever.

Replication and technical drawing and doing "left brain" types of exorcisms ultimately helps in everything else you're doing.

>I can freehand any observational drawing and get it exactly right in a short amount of time.
the framing is kind of dog shit on that though. Legs weirdly cropped at the knee and a weird amount of head space. Honestly that painting is like a great example of WHY grids and foresight are a good thing to meme about every once in awhile. Looks like you started with the face, then did the torso too large and ran out of runway with the legs.

Not to mention... "exactly right?" Pretty dang tiny head, 1930's boxer body, clump hands, and popeye forearms to say that it's "exactly right." How many of her heads could fit inside her dang ribcage?

> No grids, measuring, or construction (yuck) required
Yeah but that's obvious in your work. Nobody would ever look at your shit and wonder if it's a trace or gridded composition. Goes without saying.

If anything we're entering a period in history where actual paintings will probably be retroactively valued a lot higher. May not be in our lifetimes but what even is time really.

In many ways we're entering a dark age of physical media. The internet was probably a mistake.

at this point i'm not entirely sure you really understand the meme you're even talking about really. I've been here for 2 years and I've generally post in sporadic bursts every couple months regardless of the time of year.

And we are and have been well into eternal september territory for like 5 years now kiddo. Between the reddit invasion and the improvement of shitposting-in-class technology, it's just an endless summer.

i mean shit if anything Summer is now the only time when it's ONLY the gremlins and cave trolls shitposting. All the normies that shitpost in school are at the beach and having summer jobs or whatever. Now that we're vibing on this idk I think this needs some study.

HAS TECHNOLOGY GONE TOO FAR?! IS WINTER THE NEW SUMMER?!

>i chose the photo to show that even legends use grids and theres nothing wrong with it.
no shit. That's kind of why it's hilarious to me that my use of grids are the go-to shitpost for so many of the cucks on this board. It's double funny when a lot of them are fucking digital artists with thousands of dollars of equipment giving me shit for using a ruler.

Also that illustration you posted was from after Leyendecker had been a professional illustrator for over 15 years. I'm a fuckyou memeschlock painter that's been active for like 20 months. Didn't realize I needed to be ready for the Saturday Evening Post already.
