It's definitely a key thing. Other elements could include storytelling, concepts, symbolism, biographical elements, graphic design, type, and lettering (yeah I know AI can do text and some 'design' but it looks like shit and has no intentionality). The painter Robert Williams (pic related) has almost all of these elements in his work.
It's not hard to outsmart the algorithm with creativity.
