As I said before here, this is the most important lesson in animation. You aren't animating a character, you are basically animating a big stretchy ball. Animate a ball "acting" first then replace the ball with your character.

As an animation fag, the more I think about it, the more I realized that this is the single most important lesson in animation. Ever. Everything else is secondary to this and a waste of time if you don't get this. So read Preston Blair if you want to learn some more, but this is basically animation in a nutshell.
