>how happy are you with your career?

I'm really happy with it having made significant changes to my perceptions of art and how I pursue it.

>does it get boring / tiring drawing 8 hours a day?

I'm introverted, so it didn't affect me that badly for the first two years, but come the third year I was completely burned out and extremely lonely. What I've learned from this is that it doesn't matter how introverted/socially averse you think you are, humans are social creatures, and we require a minimal level of meaningful social contact in order to thrive.

>is an art career lonely? Do you regret pursuing art professionally?

I've never regretted it. I had bad experiences with how I pursued my art in the beginning. Now I work part-time for a creative organisation teaching kids, moderating creative workshops, and doing one-to-one tutoring with creatively-inclined disadvantaged young people. Through this I have a stable income that isn't relying on how I'm feeling creatively, and it gives me time to work on my art in my free time. I'm also pursuing work in galleries/museums in the short-term, because having "self-employed digital artist - 3 years" on a c.v. isn't a good look to most employers. Say you have a big event occur in your life that effects you significantly (for example the death of a loved one, illness) and suddenly discover you can't draw anymore, it's a good idea to have a revenue stream that isn't reliant on you being emotionally together, even if it's just stacking shelves. This is a scenario happens to artists A LOT more than you think, and it's a good to have a backup.

>what was the biggest sacrifice you had to make, for the sake of your art?

My health. If you're not being really strict with your habits, exercising regularly, trying to maintain good posture and an ergonomic stance at your desk, your physical health is going to go to shit very quickly. Mine did, and it got to the point where getting out of bed every morning sounded like a bone orchestra.

they can't comprehend the fact that you don't have to be a good artist to have a good business, and vice versa. You can draw really decent work and still slave away doing shitty work, or never make the same amount of money compare to people you perceive as worse than you.
