i know this is bait but for others reading, "technique alone" is not a thing which exists in a vacuum.

go to an improv group and watch people just blurt out ridiculous scenarios and take their dialog down unexpected paths.

Two things are required for them to do that. The first is skill in "improv alone" as you might call it. the skill they developed to blurt out anything without getting stuck, and make people laugh.

But the other skill is a mastery of the English language or whatever language you're speaking in.

Drawing technique is analogous to English.

If you can't draw a character from any angle, you are stuck with what you know how to do. You look at Kim Jung Gi's work, he is drawing these omniscient angles of shit floating there in space. I think people like him are actually able to draw exactly what they imagine.

The guy can draw absolutely anything from any angle, and perspective and any lighting. and because of that he can draw a shark in a dentists chair or an army of orks floating in space battling an army of tiger headed ninjas and people fucking in every known position. all in one drawing.

The example i just gave is not pic related, its one i just made up because i mastered english. but i can't draw it because i dont have the drawing technique down, you see.
