Do twitter artists do this on purpose or are they that oblivious to their own irony?

>Don't draw for other people, draw for yourself
Why does this advice not feel genuine? It's especially hilarous when popular twitter artists say this and in the next moment freak out when their follower count stalls.
If I was doing art only for self fuffilment I wouldn't even be on this board let alone posting on socials. No one irl likes me so I grind art so I am respected and admired.

If you post your art anywhere online (even here), you want validation.
You want the likes, the retweets, the followers, the patreon bucks, the commissions, and the (you)s.
And there is nothing wrong with that.

It's one of those "true but you shouldn't say it" things
Instead you should just do what you need to do to achieve such a goal without speaking about it (draw, market yourself, network like crazy)
