I'll be honest, I don't have a good time. Everyone says having an art community to go to is valuable because like minded individuals will make you want to draw too. You cunts do not make me want to draw.

Everyone pines for the ConceptArt.com days where people got gud and had a fun time doing it with peers they liked and respected. But no one here really tries to emulate that attitude. There is no professional, alive or dead, that /ic/ won't shit on. There is no respect for anything or anyone, and because of that when you receive critique on here it can only feel like it comes, not from respect, but malice at wanting to pick something apart.

When the most prevalent meme, joke, or common phrase is a way of putting people down, that's not a good sign. When there are more threads gossiping about artists that there are posts about discussing art, you know the community isn't about work, or even about play, it's about mean spirited drama.

/ic/ has its uses, it's an excellent portal to finding books, tutorials, videos, and other resources. It's a good place to consult for art supply purchases and so forth. But isn't it a shame /ic/'s biggest merit isn't its own work, just aggregating other people's work?

These days I don't even try talking to /ic/ about art or artists or my own work, because you can't appreciate anything on here without people wanting to argue about it. I have a few chat buddies if I need a fellow artist to talk to and a few videos I like to watch if I need motivation to hear about what a real artist is and goes through. I don't even save other anon's art from here anymore, because anytime I share it no one seems to care about the best things going on in the board, and it's not worth the trouble to keep browsing for it to save.

I lurk the artbook threads and occasionally toss in my 2 cents about this or that, like I'm doing now. That's all this board is good for in my eyes.
