I think it's a lot more he just expects the reader to be able to apply the things he teaches in the most complex ways by giving the simplest examples. Show the student a 20 step process of how to mirror a tilted and reflect plane and next they should be able to freehand sketch a complex mechanical object or interior apparently. It's like telling a kid "6 divided by 3 is 2" and then asking "what's the square root of -7?". There's a lot in between those two things and it isn't a gap so small most will bridge it on their own.

That said, H2D is a thick ass and expensive book and trying to put all the inbetweeny bits will only make it thicker and pricier. But if nothing else it could really do with a workbook a la Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, especially since it's probably going to be held up as a bible of sorts for would-be artists for the next 100 years the same way Perspective Made Easy was.

Yeah most people don't have grease pencils anymore though dry/wet erase markers would do just as well. That isn't really an exercise though, it's just mentioned to help you understand a concept.

Alternatives? joseph d'amelio's perspective drawing handbook is pretty good but not as beginner friendly (Perspective Made Easy really is as simple as it gets). If you want example pictures "Basic Perspective Drawing" by John Montague is basically all pictures with very little text, but they're not scanned anywhere to my knowledge and my own edition is 2 generations outdated.

Also pic related.

And don't forget that perspective, like anything in art, takes practice. Just because you know the "rules" doesn't mean you'll be able to use them or bend them without a lot of artistic experience.

They are always on A horizon line, even if that line is imaginary. In 1-pt and 2-pt they're on the same horizon line and that horizon line is also indistinguishable from the eye level. However in 3 point the HL isn't necessarily the eye level and there are 3 HLs that are splayed out, with any 2 points sharing one. For more info read hand print or pic related.

The biggest way to waste money is incrementally with the poor man's rationalization of "it's just $X" or "it's only $Y". You're an idiot, and what's more it doesn't matter if it's $1, it's incredibly backwards to take an old recording of ordinary 40 minute long entry-level /beg/-tier college lectures and then try and sell it at all. This is $12, Perspective Made Easy is public domain. There is no choice between the two then.

Pic related. I was trying to be amicable when I wrote it but I really do think it's nothing short of asinine to take some backlog footage and then chalk it up as "passive income" by taking advantage of people too unwitting to find better alternatives for cheaper. It's better to benefit the greatest amount of people for free than the fewest possible for chump change, which is what he's chosen to do (and still failed at it since it's up on CGPeers and elsewhere at no one's expense except his). Otherwise you're just desperately trying to replace the information age with the dark age.
