how is it not a drawing mate?

What do you think drawing for a painting is? it's designing a space/objects/figures and using lines to dictate where the information will be when you go to paint it. Making the marks is not the difficult part, its the transferring of information to a page, whether from imagination or reference.

at worst i spent around 30 min to an hour deciding what my tile will look like, etc. and around 6 hours researching and modelling/figuring modo out for placement.

I'm probably going to spend around 20-30 hours painting this thing so I'd rather it be planned out and be able to chose my composition on the fly to satisfy the person I'm making this for.

I've been working around 4~ hours a day on average for the last month, should i just do mindless photocopies? :^}
