What's wrong with taking some years getting good at pure illustration, draftmanship and technique skills before getting into comics making? I want to make comics and lewds in the future, but considering how my art looks like and my current skill level for now I've put the focus to 2 or 3 years of pure illustration practice first. Poorly drawn manga like AOT or ONE works are alright in their context but It's not something I aspire to, especially if I'm looking to do something styled after Jojo/Bastard!!/Berserk/Trigun where good art is absolutely a must.

I am doing something right? Are there any examples of amateur-tier manga artists who got to very high skill levels whitin the same series?
