I wouldn't go with Scott Robertson's book if I were to pick my first book, since it's a little complex. I mean, it would be as if you've never studied chemistry and went for Lowry's Mechanism and Theory in Organic Chemistry without having read Brown & Lemay's Chemistry: The Central Science first.

So I would say go for Keys to Drawing, you don't have to finish it if you feel you've aquired enough gains. While you're doing that book, try starting with Hampton's figure drawing book, obviously if you're interested in drawing the figure, wich I would reccomend because it integrates all the fundamentals on a subject that is really fun to draw (at least it is for me).

This is my advice, you can start with Robertson if you wish, but most beginners find it a tad heavy, lurk the archives for testimonies
