I honestly just wish more modern day shounen (and manga as a whole) went the way of One Piece or even early Dragon Ball when it comes to their settings. Neither of those is my favorite series, but I appreciate the fact that they're pretty original (and wacky) in many ways. Like, they feels like a completely different world with its own way of doing things. Sure, they draw influences from real life like every work of fiction, but both are still fairly original. I hate how every modern day shounen is just a setting in a different version of Japan (and not even the more interesting exotic and overlooked parts of Japan, it's always fucking Tokyo and neighbouring places), one way or another. BnHA is just modern day Japan, JJK is just modern day Japan and KnY is just Japan 100 years ago.
