but i DO want to just sit around doing portraits.

as far as wonky proportions you've got to remember what exactly im practicing. everything I do lassos in the measurements and proportions tighter and more accurate. I want to learn to draw what I'm seeing before I start drawing what I think I see, and I'm just starting to do the latter.

it's a pretty silly assumption by people on here that people have to study anatomy to understand it. All you have to do to understand human anatomy is be a human. But drawing anatomy is the hard part. My anatomy knowledge is what is starting to fill in the blanks of proportion I've been missing, and I'm just learning to trust it more. Trust for instance that I know what a hand looks like, and I can use that knowledge as I draw them as a safety net when I look away from what I'm drawing and look down at my paper.

here's a hand i drew today. pretty good right?
