Here's an example, maybe I wasn't completely clear:

Let's say I tell him that making a piece was a total of "$5 bucks" (they're usually 15cm x 20cm works, more or less).

He'd be paying me $10. And selling the piece to foreigners at $20.

Oh yeah. I was watching a studio-tour video of Kim Jung Gi (Rest in Peace you magnificent bastard) and I felt so validated when he showed his dear collection of favorite art books, and he had a bunch of western masters among with eastern ones.

I straight up paused the video to stalk the titles, art is a very multifaceted process, and I know that it's very possible to blend styles.

I don't know why people think that because colours are complimentary you have to use them. Ccomplimentary colours just means that the colours contrast strongly, it's a tool that an artist can use if they want to make something stand out but it's not some kind of rule where you have to use it. I think often when people try and use a complimentary colour scheme it looks garish, personally I prefer a near monochromatic one.
