>Do any of the books and PDFs explain HOW to make a comic by explaining what type of panels to use in what situation? All of them say "lol just be yourself and figure it out! its a secret tee hee!" but I want to know things like
The how is up to personal preference, anon. It's not a fucking secret. You literally do just have to figure it out yourself what you like, because there's no real rules other thanthe most basic shit like "avoid tangents" and "don't overdetail" or whatever.
>the ratio of close up to far shots
Depends entirely on what you're going for.
>how much text to put in a panel so it doesnt feel clunky
Depends entirely on what you're going for and the quality of the text itself. Obviously if your dialogue sucks ass then don't fill every page to bursting with it.
>>when to draw backgrounds and when to leave it white
Depends entirely on what you're going for, and also limitations in time/energy. But generally you need at a minimum to establish location when location is necessary, and to keep things spatially coherent when things need to be spatially coherent.
>Please don't say "if you have to be told this, you aren't ready" because that's a catch 22. They had to learn somehow right? And since we're not japanese we dont have the innate knowledge
They don't have "innate knowledge" either, dumbass. They just read lots of manga, so these would stupid fucking questions. It's not that you aren't ready if you have to be told these things (although that IS true), it's that you're looking for answers to "how to do X" when the answer you give is the a huge part of the difference between individual artists. All anybody can do is tell you how somebody else did it, or how they would do it, but that's not the answer to how YOU would do it. This isn't a medium where there's a clear right and wrong way, you have to try lots of shit and see what works for you.
