Today we have lots of mixed stuff, Avatar is western but uses classic Japanese style, Wakfu is sort of mutated and dusfigured anime and certain animus do also go towards western and comic style.

If you compare this to some superman/batman chicks you'll notice that there's a different approach to hotness.
Classic western and Wakfu often had wide assed big breasted barbies, while most of anime stylization is trying to make women slim, slender and pretty. As for male characters western makes disfigured meatslabs out of men like "LOOK SO STRONG(no idea how he walks through the door)" while Japanese make muscular men look like swimmers and athletes they might be very fit, but never buffed like bodybuilders.

As for faces and noses you may notice that Japs go for sharp lines to define mouth and nose and their chins are very often sharp. Which corellates with slenderness of body.
