I'm that anon that lives in China right now, you know how that place has it's own internet? It has it's own webtoons too. A masterful illustration by someone I've looked up to for years has 10k likes. Someone on the same platform loads their simple shaded romance comic, 50k likes. I was at KFC and the only comics people were reading were vertical scroll ones. Even at the book store, a few published comics were the scrolls. Being a famewhore, I remember lusting to break 10k followers on deviantart, imagine my surprise when the top beasts have 5 million followers on webtoon. Are vertical comics the new making it?
I was also at the gym and turned on to see a Chinese anime, and it was also adapted from a webcomic.
