>Drawing from life as a beginner is the stupidest thing you could do.
I have to disagree. I taught my 4 year old to draw by deconstructing what he sees using basic shapes and volumes FROM what he can see. He picked it up right away. Pic related.

>>What does it look like in real life?
>>How do other artists draw it?
>>Copy other artist while looking at life to see WHAT they stylized
Instead, simply learn how to properly use and deconstruct references. This is a tried and proven method. This is why I think kids who learn how to draw from what they see end up being pretty good artists and the kids who drew stick figures by copying other kids or from what the media shows as "kids' drawings" end up stuck being only able to draw just that.

>>Study anatomy to learn WHY they used specific marks
I don't think you need to learn much anatomy if you always have a reference in front of you. This only becomes a real necessity when you need to stylize or draw from imagination.
