It help if you understand the physics behind punching Anon. The basic goal is to use the fist as a battering tool with the motion accelerating the fist in a long trajectory aimed towards the target to acquire enough momentum with which to impact with the maximum possible force on impact with the body's weight behind it. That's the basic barebones idea, now of course experienced fighters can achieve this is many ways in blinding speed, jabs, straights, hooks etc. but let's stay with the basics. If you have trouble envisioning then get up from your chair and perform the movement slowly and see how it works it can really help.

I tried to make quick rundown here in 3 steps
1) as the character winds up the punch from behind
2) then launches the fist forwards using all the muscles her body has at the disposal, using the shoulders, the arm and even the turning torso.
3) the impact the fist has traveled a large distance and impacted has turned 180 degrees to put as much weight and thus force into the impact as possible. And if you look close the turning of the torso not only helped to add momentum to the punch at the same time it also readied the other arm for the next punch to follow up

On your picture the girl is holding her fist more in a symbolic way threatening the opponent that she is read to wind up a punch but she is not yet began to do it that is why it doesn't look serious. Because she is not yet serious about it yet she is preparing but not committed to it yet.
