Vasily Vereshchagin is not only my my favorite Russian painter, but painter in general. His works often focus on subject matter from central Asia and India. Man traveled a lot, and painted what he saw in is bright, hyper detailed style that i just love.

I saw a bunch of his works when i visited Moscow. Unless you were standing centimeters away from it, you'd swear you were looking at a photo, not something created with brush and canvas.
