The cartoon are a teaching tool, not a funny silly thing he threw in. Drawing cartoons teaches you form, as well as how to draw simple shapes and turn that into characters. The book also has some realism style stuff in it too. You should at least give it a glance over. Lady on the left was before I read fun with a penis and the 2 on the right are after only reading and doing 40 or so pages. Still bad but definite improvement
