Sure you make good points, but the shortest and easiest advice was to limit the color pallete, with just this constraint you have to make tons of decisions that will let to better results.

Of course just using fewer colors won't make pixel art, there are many other considerations, abstraction, sprite size, tiling, dithering algorithms, etc. But I thought limiting colors and study good sprites would be more intuitive and shorter than "practice your dith gradation" or "learn how draw primitive shapes in multiple ways".
