Really? Because pic related a 3d model of an anime and it worked out fine. There are many more like this and they work, the only time you need to warp them is when you're emulating 2d animation and angles with 3d models, like arcsys does with their games. And the only issue with these is doing the normals for the shadows takes a long time to set up, but it can be done, and done well. I think the real conclusion is that guy is a retard that doesn't know what he's doing, and on top of that he picked an awful reference photo.
