I'm ok at art, but not great. I'm trying to make a video game, but I have to do all the art assets myself.

What's the fastest way to improve drawing skills? Should I be trying to draw from memory, should I use reference images etc.

Pic related is some warm-up sketches I did, since I haven't done any art/drawing in many years. The first one was obviously horrible, but as I went along I think they were improving noticably.
