I source sounds from random youtube videos I archived years ago using aTubeCatcher or w/e it was called. All sounds are basically made unrecognizable from source in LMMS or Audacity to fit the need of the video in question. Usually I steal music from hentai games that I torrented during 2011-2014, but occasionally I make my own music using LMMS and Audacity as well.
A FOSS-friendly process for making sounds.

Honestly?
I've had the most success on Newgrounds and Neocities.
I can even lash out at people on NG with no consequences and call them gynotits with impunity.
It's a wonderful place after all these years. Everything I create gets interacted with, commented on, and I usually end up scoring a handful of followers for each post.
Neocities rocks because it's tight-knit and you control your own site, which makes it a good creative outlet to practice web development and graphic design as well.
