I finally learned how to use perspective and use that to make cylinders but the problem is that I'm a lazy fuck. I tried exercising for at least 30 min everyday but I'm still lazy. I don't know wtf is wrong with me.
It's such a chore to practice free-handing cylinders by making one properly first then try to copy it.

Also I've recently watched some japan vids on drawing and how to improve and just thinking about it has been worrying me a lot, because the video mentions that even if you put time practicing, if you're doing it "wrong" then you won't improve. I'm worried that I'm doing the "wrong" things without knowing that I'm doing it.

Different anon but I'd say not. Even in the old days a lot of the posting was people posting something generic in your sketchbook thread, much like the quick crits people give here, mainly so you would then return the favour and reply to their sketchbook thread.

The pros kept mainly to themselves and a select few rising stars, algenpfleger and miles among them. One of the better parts of CA was the challenges section, having weekly challenges for character, creature, environment, industrial design of the week etc. The character and enviro ones were pretty high level and competetive, creature was more creative people and had a couple of pros every week, and the others were good practice for people not good or experienced enough to try the other yet.

I feel like we could have more challenges at LAS just as easily, if someone is willing to be the creator of a character/enviro/whatever of the week one and come up with the briefs.

Personally I'd like more stuff like the animation challenge where people join and work through the same thing together but that could just be me. Lot of lassies seem shy though, so maybe having an option to make challenges anonymously would be a good idea.
