Some term thrown around on /ic/ a lot, probably means different things to different people but to me it means drawing something you don't fully understand.

When beginners draw an eye they generally think of it as an almond shape with a circle in the middle. When in reality they should be thinking of it as a sphere (for the eyeball) with two lips that wrap around it (the lids).

Symbol drawing often results in a preference for flat, front on images because if you only know the symbol for an eye (a front on abstract shape), you won't know how to represent it in a 3/4 view.

The right of the image I posted would be symbols.
