You really shouldn't be scared of being a copycat lol, you have to remember that every style is a combination of elements from others. If the only thing stopping you from finding your dream style is worrying about being unoriginal, just go for it
Pic related, tried mimicking him after reverse engineering his brushes. I think he'd be happy to see that people are trying to understand how he does his stuff, considering he always talks about passing on his knowledge to a newer generation of artists
