Can someone please give me recommendation on youtubers/ books that teach how to paint/shade for absolute beginners? I've spent 2 years practicing basics but colors is the only thing that I can't understand that well.

Actual serious question. I heard people saying that "doing line art in red is cheating because is looks better. Learn to draw with regular gray/black color first". Is this true or retarded take? Because I've noticed that when I do red lineart it looks much cleaner and better. Could someone please explain this to me?
