by all means go for it. No sketchbook needed so long as you ink in the traditional medium (xerox, napkin, and even toilet paper if necessary). All traditional fags are welcome.

He can technically do that if he felt he did not get the sort of feedback he was looking for in that other thread. If you ask me neither of those two (really two?) doodle threads should even fucking exist since they could easily be consolidated into this one sketch thread. There is literally no point in splitting an already limited market when you have traditional fags posting their traditional work in the draw, alt/ art, and inktober threads. But that's just me.

This one looks a tad small and flimsy. I think i'd want one more substantial than that. Not sure why but it seems the best built ones are made from leather but I fucking hate the idea of even owning that shit though. I hear it smells and stains clothes when it gets wet and you have to buy some weird oil just to keep it from tearing apart (gross)

I'd definitely do the 12WX if you're broke.
I haven't owned a 13HD, but I've used a 24HD or whatever at school and they're great, but I don't think you need to have the most recent/biggest model. The 12WX is just as good IMO, but it might have some very slight imperfections as far as resolution and color - none of which couldn't be fixed by checking your image on your main monitor.

The only thing that sucks for me about the 12WX is the cord system - its a total mess and its pretty cumbersome. So that really screws with portability, but if all your cords are stationary, it doesn't really matter. But other than that, I really like it. I really like the control pad/touch scroll thing(as opposed to the newer ring-shaped control pads, which I was not a fan of), and the size is good enough for me as well.

I was in your situation pretty much, just graduated and no dough really, so I'm working with a used 12WX and I love it. One of my favorite purchases I've ever made. I'm thinking about maybe upgrading once I'm doing better financially, but for now, this thing absolutely does the job. And I got mine for like $400, if you're finding something that looks legit for $250, that sounds like a no-brainer to me.

I skipped the knockoffs myself, so I don't know how that compares. I've heard they can really suck though, like the surface can be more like glass, so the pen kindof catches on the surface, whereas the cintiq surface is made more to emulate paper, so it's a lot smoother when you draw. Idk if that's accurate though.

But yeah, you should definitely do it.
