What's funny about it? They're tiny on the page, and wouldn't be in harsh shadow anyway. It would be more distracting if they were more detailed, for the same reason this area isn't heavily detailed either.
Besides that, you're basically saying "hmmm isn't it funny that cartoons are cartoonish? veeeery interesting". Water is wet.
