I made this with a round brush in SAI in less than 20 minutes, using the natural behavior of SAI's smooth brushes.

This changes nothing in how much I can accomplish, as rendering must sit on a solid foundation I do not possess, and neither do the people impressed by that video.

I don't have that much to share without giving myself away, so have this study I was making the other day.

This thread isn't bumping? Maybe some grumpy janitor's work.

Error: Image resolution is too large.

I did this in the end of 2012. Sadly, I haven't been practicing since then, so there isn't much I can add to make it better. Sorry, /ic/, I've failed you. Some will even remember me from some of these drawings.

And I won't translate shit, just go by the numbers.

Since I couldn't upload the real deal directly, related pic I put is a recent texture practice I made with SAI.

>Which programs for digital art do you have experience with?
Paint, Potoshop, Paint.NET, Fireworks, Paint Tool SAI, Flash, Corel Draw, Inkscape, ToonBoom, Pencil, EZ-Toon, Gimp, openCanvas and that predecessor of FireAlpaca that is pure shit.

>Which is your favorite at the moment?
SAI, Photoshop, none. In this order.

>Why?
Because SAI is usability-driven and really easy to use (no, I'm not Photoshop illiterated, but it's way stiffer), and has better stabilization/color mixing.
Photoshop, in the other hand, has textures and automatizes boring tasks - which I rarely do, so I don't use it that much.

>Is there something you would like to see improved?
At SAI?
- Brush dynamics like Photoshop's;
- More color adjustment and basic filters, like Photoshop's;
- A text tool would be nice as well, currently I do this kind of editing with Fireworks.
If these things were added, I could work fully on it forever.

At PS?
- Stabilizer;
- Color mixing as smooth as SAI;
- The ability to superimpose a single stroke until it gets opaque, like in SAI;
- Fully customizable shortcuts (currently it's binded to certain keys and not every task is shortcutable);
- A text tool that isn't utter shit.

>Do you switch between programs for different tasks, or do you like to stick to a single one?
I stick to a single one, it's way easier for my workflow, since my folders and even desktop are always a mess; dealing with many files start to tick on my nerves. I just go on Photoshop for final touchs like blending modes and color balancing. If I were to draw too complex and overdetailed things like grass, I'd use it as well to make it automatic with brush dynamics.
