Friendly reminder that this is a gross exageration and history revisionism that most normies unironically believe.

Yes, it is true that early Japanese animation looked alot simliar to western cartoons, specifically Walt Disney's animated films, but after the 60's it evolved it pretty much its own thing.

There was absolutely nothing produced in the west that looked remotely simliar enough to claim that it "ripped off" western animation styles.

French animation has the pho-anime style because anime in France has always been much more popular for the past several decades than it was in the United States. Many french comic book artists and animators grew up watching anime alongside their regular french programming way back in the 80s before Toonami became in thing for viewers in the US in the mid 2000's.
